Streptopelia roseogrisea
Thorn scrub, acacia savannas.  Subsaharan African region in sw Mauritania, n Senegambia, s Mali, Burkina Faso, s Niger, n Nigeria, n Cameroon, c,s Chad and c Sudan to se Egypt, n,c Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, n Somalia and sw Arabia.  Small but often persistent wild colonies (of "risoria") have become established in N. America in s California (Los Angeles area), c Florida (St. Petersburg region) and e Texas (Houston), and probably elsewhere in North America, but these are dependent upon man for continued existence.
Often treated as a subspecies of S. decaocto.
-
The domesticated form "S. risoria" (Linnaeus) 1758, is now known to be
a derivative of S. roseogrisea.  Because of the confusion surrounding the use of risoria (the senior name), the latter is better suppressed for any wild population in favor of other established names.
