Rep., s Chad and c,s Sudan to Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and s Arabia, and s (exc. forested w,c) in Zaire, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe to c S. Africa.
A. r. vindhiana.  Locally in s Asia in se Iran, Pakistan and India (exc. Assam); Sri Lanka.
