Mueller is the son of the lutherischen minister Christian Anton Statius Mueller native from Esens, who changed still in the year of the birth of the son of Dunum to the lutherische municipality to Leeuwarden. The family originates on the paternal side from Netherlands aristocracy and was called originally Statius, however then in Germany Mueller accepted the name. The nut/mother, Maria Philippina geb. Franke, originates from Saxonia. Philipp Ludwig went starting from 1740 into Gotha to the school, studied from 1741 to 1744 in Jena theology and philosophy and became after six month's candidate time in Amsterdam on 30 October a 1745 prediger of the lutherischen municipality Amersfoort. 1749 it followed a call after Leeuwarden, where he became on 4 May 1754 a first prediger. The thing came before the Amsterdamer Konsistorium, which might not have acquitted Mueller perfectly. 1753 are formed a commission consisting of ten theologians, before which Mueller must answer for itself. It states that Mueller in central points deviates from the right faith. At the beginning of of 1754 gives it in the lutherischen church in Leeuwarden a public dispute. Mueller had to strike itself with engstirnigen and fanatischen colleague, who does not remove mentally the water for it be enough could. Finally the call was on the Professur after attaining a release for in the province misjudged and slandered man Mueller began its new place as an extraordinary professor of philosophy in attaining 1757 and still acquired in the same year the Magisterwuerde. 1762 he became a tidy professor and at the same time prediger at the university church, 1764 also university librarian.
